Sheetz: Building a Charging Network

On a long road trip, Sheetz is the go-to oasis to refuel both your stomach and your car. Back in 2013, Sheetz was one of the pioneers in adding electric charging to its fuel portfolio. At more than 20 locations, Sheetz is offering electric supercharging for Tesla customers, according to Trevor Walters, Assistant Vice President of Commodities Trading at Sheetz.   “We embrace electric vehicles,” said Walters. “Tesla drivers have been giving us so much positive feedback. We are excited to watch this grow.” He explained that Sheetz’s new supercharging sites will help expand the electric vehicle charging network while providing a quick and convenient stop for drivers to also recharge (on food, snacks and beverages) and get back on the road again. The retailer currently has different types of chargers at other locations, including Electrify America charging stations in Carlisle and Bloomsburg, Pa., Wytheville, Va., and Rocky Mount, N.C. Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz operates more than 580 store locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina. Read more RoadTrip 2.0 coverage here.
