With an eye on growth in the technology sector and the need for a skilled workforce, SDLC Partners proudly sponsored a recent STEM summer camp focused on preparing youth for careers of the future.
At the Carnegie Science Center’s Application Design Camp, students ages 12-14 learned coding, tested out prototypes, and designed their own apps. SDLC Partners donated five laptops and funding for tablet devices, as well as provided subject matter expertise and curriculum design.
“As part of our growth and sustainability, we have to invest in our young people and we’re lucky to partner with the Carnegie Science Center to give our future software developers the guidance and opportunity to stir their interests,” said Chris Simchick, co-founder and CEO of SDLC Partners.
Chis Weirup, director of digital services for SDLC Partners, spoke to the students, addressing topics like career development, skills that the industry needs and the kinds of careers that are available now – and into the future – for application development professionals.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to expose youth to the experience of learning how to apply technology to solve real problems,” said Scott Barnyak, co-founder and chief sales and marketing officer, said. “We want and need to give a peek into our world and encourage their passions.”
