Getting its start in 2006 with just a handful of clients in the education sector, Cranberry Twp.-based Concensus Technologies now provides a spectrum of IT solutions to more than 125 customers.
It was a leap for CEO Don DaRe back then to leave a steady gig and strike out with co-founder Bill Guesman to launch the company, but DaRe has never looked back.
Over more than a decade, Concensus has grown and evolved to offer hardware, software, services and support to customers of all sizes. It also provides staff augmentation and managed services to round out its capabilities.
DaRe said Concensus’s first claim to fame was developing a connector to Google Apps that now boasts more than 2 million seats. Concensus is kept on its toes serving the customers ranging from large universities and k12’s and food processors to small, privately owned businesses.
According to DaRe, Concensus is currently experiencing growth around its Identity & Access and Managed Services solutions. The Concensus Connect Identity Management Platform features identity management, access management/governance, group/password management and single sign on capabilities.
“A user’s identity is the center of everything,” noted DaRe. “By managing a user’s digital identity life cycle, you can ensure that they have access to the right applications, and a customer can manage everything from on-boarding new hires to role modifications, password changes, role changes and termination.”
Concensus’s Managed Services arm supports, monitors and updates systems to give its customers a competitive advantage, according to DaRe. “Our goal is to simplify IT so customers can focus on their business. We can support an IT staff or become IT staff,” said DaRe. “Our Managed Services solution has continually improved productivity, reduced IT costs and increased security for all of our customers.”
Having such a diverse portfolio of offerings has kept Concensus on balance and on a steady growth trajectory. Last year, DaRe bought out his retiring partner Bill Guesman to assume the role of CEO. He still rolls up his sleeves to jump on the technical side of the business, but he is looking forward to growing the company to new levels of success.
“As a small business owner, I understand clients’ goals and bring solutions in a planned fashion using a roadmap to deploy technology they can afford,” said DaRe.
