Ace Wire Spring & Form Co., Inc. recently celebrated and promoted Manufacturing Day 2017 for the second year in a row on October 6th. Ace Wire Spring has been a manufacturer of Custom Compression Springs, Extension Springs, Torsion Springs and Wire Forms since 1939.
Ace Wire Spring believes in supporting the local community and the education of young people in the field of manufacturing. To help students experience what manufacturing is, and in celebration of Manufacturing Day, Ace Wire Spring hosted two separate groups of students for a presentation and tour of the company’s facility. In the morning, Ace Wire Spring welcomed a group of Sto-Rox 8th grade middle school students. In the afternoon, we hosted a group of Brashear high school students. We also welcomed Bill Padnos, Director of Youth Engagement for the NTMA & Executive Director of SWPA BotsIQ, and David Fair, President & CEO of SMC Business Councils. After the tour, we invited the students back into the office to perform a hands-on experiment, make their own springs using small pipe cleaners and pencils for the shaping possibilities. The hope is that this event helped expand the minds of the students that visited Ace Wire Spring, and that they saw the many opportunities for a career in the manufacturing industry.
Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It is a chance for students to see the diverse career options that are innovative, impactful and durable. In response to a dire need in America, MFG DAY helps with the industry’s major shortage of skilled workers. An estimated two million manufacturing jobs will go unfilled over the next decade due to companies’ inability to find talent with the required skills. Supported by a group of industry sponsors and co-producers, MFG DAY amplifies the voice of individual manufacturers and coordinates a collective chorus of manufacturers with common concerns and challenges. The rallying point for a growing mass movement, MFG DAY empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.
